Yes or No - should you add QR codes to social media graphics?

I'm a big fan of well-done QR codes on printed items that take your supporters to the exact page or information you want them to go to! But what about adding them to your graphics on social media?

The answer is... it depends...

1. If most of your followers view your social content from a desktop, it COULD make sense to add a QR code. They could also click the link that's in the copy

2. Since you can't add traditional links to individual Instagram posts as you can with other platforms, having a QR code in your graphic CAN allow some followers to screenshot your image and access the QR code later.

3. Since the pandemic, we have been trained to see QR codes everywhere. Because it's a visually different call-to-action than a link, some marketers report increased engagement over link clicks.

4. The number of people who use QR codes is rising and will likely keep growing.

Moral of the story...

You should know your followers and measure your data. One of the best parts about marketing is experimenting and implementing different strategies to see what works best for YOU!

Be strategic! It's essential not to slap a QR code on everything you do just because it was asked of you... it takes up valuable space in your graphic that could feature more meaningful content (or some much-needed white space)!

What do you think? Are you a yay or nay?
